High Average Power Tunable Deep UV Generation Using Cascading Second - Order Nonlinear Optical Conversions

    No full text
International audienceThe nonlinear optical interactions represent a rich source of phenomena, that has scientific and practical importance. With increasing of the order of nonlinearity, the conversion efficiency strongly falls down. That is why, only the lowest order χ(2) or χ(3) processes have a satisfactory efficiency for real practical application. The second and third order nonlinear conversions in nonlinear crystals are now a mature technology for short wavelength generation in the range down to the vacuum UV, which, in particular, is very interesting for variety spectroscopy studies

Generation of 10 mW tunable narrowband radiation around 210 nm using a 6.5 kHz repetition rate copper vapour laser pumped dye laser

International audienceA reliable laser system, capable of generating 10 mW average power of tunable narrowband deep UV radiation around 210 nm is demonstrated. The system is based on a 6.5 kHz repetition rate copper vapour laser pumped dye laser. The dye laser emission is subsequently tripled by phasematched second harmonic generation and sum-frequency mixing in two BBO crystals. An application of the present system for high resolution excitation around 213 nm of the 1B 2( 1ÎŁ +u) state of the CS 2 molecule and a resultant total fluorescence spectrum is given as an example
